Federico Ballarini è un giovane ragazzo di trent'anni di Torino. Anche se così giovane è a capo di un progetto mastodontico per il panorama italiano del tennis. Federico è l'inventore del sito tennistalker.it, piattaforma sulla quale risiedono i dati di tutti i tesserati tennis in Italia, con collettati i risultati di tutti i match federali.
L'idea di Federico nasce da un bisogno che aveva come giocatore: prepararsi prima di una partita raccogliendo informazioni su un avversario – e queste informazioni erano impossibili da recuperare. Inizia a raccogliere tutti i dati che gli servono in un excel con tutti tornei e le partite giocate, risultati e classifiche. Il progetto continua ad ampliarsi fino a diventare una raccolta di tutti i giocatori italiani, con dati di tutte le categorie dal 2014 ad oggi.
Lo staff si è ampliato con figure commerciali, webmaster, social media e blog. È sempre necessario inserire i dati manualmente nel programma, solo in parte si aggiornano automaticamente. I giorni esatti delle partite ad esempio non ci sono, ma per una scelta di privacy: tutti i dati sono aggiornati alla data della finale di un torneo in linea con direttive GDPR.
Una conseguenza del lavoro svolto è diventata una competenza straordinaria sulle classifiche: Federico risponde a tutte le persone che lo contattano ed è diventato un esperto della proiezione dei risultati in classifica.
